The Impossible Mission

[Strict Time-keeping Required]

Is 4 weeks of adjudicating Patron Orders to early to do a retrospective?

Just coming out of the new years festivities and Youtube is flooded with 'A Year in Review's. If it is then consider this the first of many reflections.

Either way I'm coming down off the excitement of the first session (AAR to follow, several weeks out so the Players can't capitalise on it too much), so its a perfect time to address something I could now foresee becoming a problem.

I had been allowing the Patrons to reduce the DC's of certain Downtime activities by utilising (read as: expending) the results of other Downtime activities.

The main example of this would be when undertaking Crime.

As reducing the DC of the crime by engaging in Research, Carousing, or Sowing Rumours, was meant to emulate the most classic aspects of any great heist story; using Research to case the joint, Sowing Rumours to create a distraction, and going Carousing to secure a man-on-the-inside.

However, here is where I'd made a mistake:

I'd been allowing all these actions to occur within the same week.

And so going forward, I have elected to change how this is to be handled.

The Patrons (and the Players) will still be able to reduce the DC's of certain Downtime Activities in this manner, but only for Activities which they will be undertaking the following week.

As in currently you can Research, Sow Rumours, Carouse and pull off the Crime at a lower DC all in the [Week 1].

But what it will look like going forward will be something more like this:

[Week 1] - Research/Carouse/Sow Rumours.

[Week 2] - Pull off the Heist at the lower DC.

As, I think this level of forethought and planning better fits with the style of pacing I am trying to evoke.
