BROriental Adventures: No Girls Allowed (except mom) Pt.2

These are the (solitaire) Patron Session Reports of the #BROrientalAdventures campaign for Mother of the Yellow Sign, posted here for posterity.

[Chosen of the Sword Maiden, Daughter of the Yellow Sign]

Day 4 (4-8-2023):

  • Party 1 {2 Bromads, 4 Explorers, 4 Lepers and both Daughters} to be sent out to continue attempting to clear this island.
  • Party 2 {18 'Diseased' Tamasic Men} to be sent out to hunt for something more sustaining as our numbers were growing.

Both parties descended from Witch Mountain.

With the Tamasic men taking the lead, it takes a while before the Bromads realise they are lost. They encounter nothing of note, the Tamasic men try to play it off with their broken Trade Tongue, as this being “good hunting grounds”.

Party 1 roll their eyes and skirt the coast eastward, looking for a place to cut back into the thicker jungle swamp. The mangroves are strangely silent, as they push into the interior.

Maybe it is the building storm hanging over the Gulf, but there is again no sign of anything. The growing sense of unease causes them to drift off course.

They attempt to correct course, heading westward and again, nothing is encountered. They move cautiously aiming to complete the days patrolling.

In the distance on the southwestern shore of the sheltered bay they spot a 7' spider picking through the flotsam from the Yellow City, looking for easy prey trapped among the cargo. It stops and turns its attention towards them, 8 black orbs eye these interlopers suspiciously.

The Bromads/Explorers/Lepers move to engage as the spider withdraws in an attempt to flee, but before it could escape Carcosa (a daughter of the Yellow Sign) lured it to sleep with the Lullaby of the Evening Waves.

Alar (the other daughter of the Yellow Sign) presents her sword to Tiki, and encircled by the valiant warriors, he delivers a coup de gras to the sleeping beast. The Sword Maiden recovering her prized blade at the first opportunity. They found nothing of note among its corpse, and set to return to Witch Mountain hauling the cargo full of Topaz.

That evening Tiki, the 2 wounded Lepers, the Witch and her Daughters eat well.

Party 2 after an unsuccessful day of hunting, they manage to stalk back safely to Witch Mountain.

Day 5 (5-8-2023):

  • Party 1 were sent out to continue attempting to clear the island domain.
  • Party 2 were sent out to hunt for something more sustaining as our numbers were growing.

Descending from Witch Mountain they somehow ended up on the South-eastern shore of the sheltered bay. Encountering nothing significant in their march down, Party 2 decides to stay and hunt by the shore. While Party 1 attempts to head back onto the proper route, by heading Southeast.

They enter the dense mangrove swamp and run straight into the hideous forms of things once human, loitering amidst cargo from the Hundred Kingdoms, perhaps these were more of the crew from the marooned outrigger. What evil occurred aboard that cursed voyage.

Both sides were momentarily stunned by the others appearance.

Party 1 attempted to flee. But the Daughters of the Yellow Sign, perhaps unaccustomed to such things, stumbled on the tangled roots and foliage. The wights pounced, as the Party scurried back.

Foolishly, both daughters decided to stand and fight. Beginning the chanting of a powerful spell. Both the wights closed the distance with frightening speed, leaping upon several of the Party's frontline. Only Tiki's shield saved him from the fate of four others around him.

He watched as his fellow Bromad, an Explorer, and two of the Lepers had their life siphoned from them. Being reduced to husks, which fell limply to the swampy floor. Beginning to sink in the shallow brackish water.

But as a Warrior of the Sea, imbued with the Blessing of the Spout, he gave a rallying cry shaking his companions from their fear. Before leading the withdrawal. Only the remaining Lepers and a single Explorer, flee in fear.

The Daughters threw out their hands casting out the Net that Trawls the Stars, and binding the wights within its weave.

The Party chose that moment to escape, though it took some time to round up the fleeing Lepers. Realising they had instinctively run back towards Party 2.

They ran into nothing of note, shaken by the death they milled around busying themselves. Passing 6 hours and scouring up no edible fruits, but several boxes of Tea from Sughd.

They managed to link back up with the Tamasic Men, who'd had another unsuccessful day hunting.

Dividing up the cargo the encumbered group didn't realise they'd wondered off the beaten path until they stumble upon a strange sight. 5 men leading a large corpulent humanoid, its hair decorated with peacock plumes, through the mangroves.

The smugglers were cautious as the party stumbles upon them. Tiki and the Daughters step forward to introduce themselves as being agents of the Lady of the Island. Seeing this break into parley, the ‘porters’ begin to put down their cargo.

Hearing this the Smugglers draw their blades; "We wont be bewitched again!", and the Belu looks muddled as it watches the two groups. Tiki and the Girls, try to convince them the Lady of the Island holds no such ill will, but would be interested in talking business with the smugglers.

The smugglers agree, their greed clearly getting the better of them. The Belu grumbles about being promised he could "eat the pretty lady".

Packing up the cargo, the Daughters converse with the Smugglers, and the Belu eyes the Explorers greedily. A shiver running up their spine, they are aware of its intentions.  They manage to return to Witch Mountain and are granted an audience with the Lady of the Island.

She appears as agreed, behind her curtesy screen. Only Tiki and her Daughters are present, as a show of good faith.

She explains, that she has cargo that is rotting in her stores and requires an intermediary to sell it. For a fee, of course. The Smugglers begin haggling down the risk while increasing their margins. But the Belu is hungry. And growing increasingly frustrated by all the talking.

The Mother of the Yellow Sign asks the Smugglers to leave – they can conclude their business later. She stands to move from behind the screen, explaining how she has been a bad host leaving a guest unattended. Both parties are unsure where this is going, but the Belu recovers first. It draws its vicious looking skinning knife, bellowing "What are you up to Witch!"

But the Ladies of the Island, moves swift and decisively.

Seeing the blade and the beasts size, Tiki moves to defend the Lady of the Island. While her Daughters begin to weave their own enchantments, the same as their Mother. Her naked visage causes most of the smugglers to go weak at the knees. Even the Belu's gaze grows hazy. Moments before they are lulled to sleep by the Lullaby of the Evening Waves.

The Mother of the Yellow Sign's own magic a step slower than her daughters, assaults the snoring form of the Belu. She sighs, and collects herself.

Waking the Smugglers one by one, she comes to the last one and realises he has escaped her natural charm when he begins to question where his companions are. It is a tense few moments before she is able to use her magic to cloud his mind with a pink haze. She is thankful they don't have to offer him as a snack to the Belu.
